Who’s coaching this team?: Redskins Passing Game Coordinator/QB Coach Kevin O’Connell Name: Kevin O’ConnellTitle: Passing Game Coordinator / Quarterbacks CoachExperience: 9 yearsBio: 2018 will be O’Connell’s second as a member of the Redskins’ coaching staff. His title will be expanded , however, as he goes from Quarterbacks Coach to Passing Game Coordinator (and Quarterbacks Coach). While the Redskins’ passing attack was solid a year ago, that aspect of the team will obviously have a tremendous amount of scrutiny in 2018, as the Redskins move on from Kirk Cousins and begin anew with Alex Smith. Before moving into coaching , O’Connell was a journeyman quarterback for five years in the NFL, being drafted by the Patriots but also playing for the Lions, Jets, Dolphins , and Chargers.Three years after retiring, he transitioned into coaching, becoming the quarterbacks coach for the Browns. He spent a season on special projects for the 49ers under Chip Kelly, then landed in D.C. last year.Fun Fact: O’Connell was a four-year captain at San Diego State University. He posted a career passer rating of 121.1.Redskins Stress-Free NFL Sunday Open Thread The Redskins have a bye this week , and will be rehabbing a few of their injured starters this week. Washington doesn't return for a game until they travel to New Orleans to face the Saints on Monday Night Football next week. The Redskins will be watching the other 3 teams in the NFC East play today. The Giants finally got their first win of the season last week. They play the Saints in New Jersey today, and this will be a big game to watch for Redskins fans this week. The Saints have been awful on defense this year, and Jay Gruden will have to score early when he goes against a red hot Drew Brees led offense. The Dallas Cowboys are also 1-2 heading into this week and their offense is a predictable trainwreck. Dak Prescott is averaging 166 passing yards per game, they haven't scored more than 20 points in a game , and their only win is against the Giants. Not much to clap about in Dallas as they host the Lions today. The Eagles are 2-1 and go down to Tennessee to face the Titans today. They got Carson Wentz back last week, but are still dealing with a lot of injuries. The Titans defense has been keeping them in games, and hopefully that continues today.Week 4 NFL ScheduleBuffalo Bills at Green Bay Packers 1:00 pm CBSCincinnati Bengals at Atlanta Falcons 1:00 pm CBSDetroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys 1:00 pm FOXHouston Texans at Indianapolis Colts 1:00 pm CBSMiami Dolphins at New England Patriots 1:00 pm CBSN.Y.
